Cancellations and refunds
Supplier rules govern every cancellation and refund. Here is how to cancel, how a refund travels from the supplier back to you, and why timelines depend on the supplier and your payment method.
Supplier rules govern
Every airline fare, rail ticket, hotel rate and operator booking comes with its own cancellation and refund rules, set by the supplier. We show those rules in plain language before you pay, and we cannot override them. What we can do is make sure you receive everything the rules allow, and keep you informed at every step.
Before you book
- Refundable or not. Non-refundable fares and rates usually cost less but return little or nothing if you cancel.
- Deadlines. Free cancellation often ends at a set date and time, which for hotels may be in the property’s local time zone.
- Change versus cancel. Changing a booking can cost less than cancelling and rebooking.
- Our fee. Any InfiniaTrips service fee, and whether it is refundable, is shown at checkout.
How to cancel
Cancel in your trip hub where the booking allows it, or write to support with your booking reference. Before you confirm, you see the expected refund under the supplier’s rules. A cancellation takes effect when the supplier confirms it, and you receive a confirmation once it has.
Rail refunds follow the railway’s own rules, including filing a Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR) in some situations, within the time limits the railway sets. If you simply do not travel without cancelling, most suppliers treat it as a no-show, which usually means little or no refund.
How a refund flows
A refund passes through several hands. Each step is timestamped in your trip hub, so you can see exactly where it is.
| Step | What happens | Who acts |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Request | You cancel in your trip hub or through support, or a supplier cancels a service. | You or the supplier |
| 2. Supplier decision | The supplier applies its rules and confirms the refundable amount. | Supplier |
| 3. Reconciliation | We receive or are notified of the refund and match it to your order. | InfiniaTrips |
| 4. Refund sent | We send the refund to your original payment method. | InfiniaTrips |
| 5. Refund received | Your bank, card issuer or payment app credits your account. | Your bank |
How long refunds take
Timelines depend on the supplier and on how you paid. Some suppliers approve refunds quickly; others take weeks. After we send a refund, banks and card issuers take their own time to show it on your statement, and this differs between cards, UPI, net banking and wallets. For flights in India, DGCA rules set time limits for airlines to process refunds, which vary with how the ticket was paid for.
We do not promise timelines we do not control. Instead, we show each step as it happens and chase suppliers that are slow. If you paid with a card in another currency, the amount credited may differ slightly from what you paid because exchange rates move.
What may be deducted
- Supplier cancellation or change fees under the fare or rate rules.
- Components that are non-refundable under their conditions.
- Any InfiniaTrips service fee shown as non-refundable at checkout.
Even on non-refundable air fares, some taxes and fees may be refundable. Where they are, we claim them for you.
When a supplier cancels
If a supplier cancels or significantly changes a service, you are entitled to the remedies in its conditions and in applicable law, which typically means a refund or an alternative. We explain the options and act on your choice. Where a supplier offers a credit or voucher instead of money back, we tell you plainly, and we never accept one on your behalf without your agreement.
Partial cancellations
In a journey with several parts, each part is refunded under its own conditions. Cancelling one part, such as a hotel night, does not cancel the others unless you ask. When one traveller in a group cancels, the fare or room rules decide what is refunded and whether the price for the others changes, and we show you before you confirm.
If you disagree
If a refund amount looks wrong, open a support case and we will obtain the supplier’s breakdown and challenge it where the rules support you. Please talk to us before raising a chargeback with your bank: a chargeback can freeze a refund that is already on its way. If you are still not satisfied, you can use the grievance process in our terms of service.
