A premium intercity coach on an open highway through green countryside at sunrise, soft fog lying over the fields

Buses

Choose the seat. Know the stop.

Compare intercity buses by operator, seat type and boarding point, pick your exact seat or berth on the coach layout and read the cancellation terms before you pay.

Seat map

See the coach before you board it.

Every operator’s layout is different. The seat map shows the real arrangement of the coach you are booking: which deck, which side, window or aisle, single or double berth.

Boarding & dropping

Several stops, one of them yours.

Intercity buses usually pick up at more than one point on the way out of a city, and drop at several on arrival. You choose both when you book, and the ticket names them.

  • Times are the operator’s estimates. Reach your boarding point at least 15 minutes early.
  • Each point has a landmark and a map pin, because “near the flyover” is not an address.
  • Overnight coaches can arrive earlier than scheduled when roads are clear.
  • Boarding at a highway point late at night? Book a cab to the boarding point so you are not waiting on the roadside.

Operator policies

Every operator has rules. You see them first.

Buses are run by state transport undertakings and private operators, each with their own terms. We quote those terms as the operator gives them, and show them before you pay rather than in the small print after.

Bus operator policies, how they vary and where we show them
Policy How it varies Where you see it
Cancellation Time-based slabs set by each operator: the earlier you cancel, the more is refunded. Some fares cannot be cancelled at all. Exact slabs and amounts on the seat page, before payment
Partial cancellation Some operators let you cancel one seat on a booking; others only allow the whole booking. Marked on the fare as allowed or not allowed
Date change Often not permitted. Where it is, a fee and any fare difference apply. Shown with the cancellation terms
Luggage Usually one main bag plus a small personal item. Bulky items, bicycles or extra bags may be refused or charged. Operator’s own allowance, quoted as given
Children The age from which a child needs a full seat is set by the operator. Shown when you add travellers
Amenities Charging points, blankets, water and rest stops vary by coach and are stated by the operator. Labelled “operator-stated”, not verified by us

Live boarding

The evening of travel, step by step.

What you will see, and when, from the day before departure to the moment you find your berth. If the operator stops sharing updates, you will hear that from us too.

How trip support works
  1. 01

    The day before

Your trip hub confirms the boarding point, the reporting time and a map pin for the exact spot.

  2. 02

    A few hours before

The coach number and a crew contact appear once the operator shares them, along with any change to the boarding point.

  3. 03

    On the way

Live coach location, where the operator provides GPS. If it does not, we say so instead of guessing.

  4. 04

    At the stop

Look for the operator’s name and the coach number, then show your m-ticket and photo ID to the crew.

  5. 05

    On board

Check your seat or berth number against the ticket, keep valuables with you and set an alarm for early drop points.

Bus FAQ

Bus travel, plainly put.

Why are some bus berths marked for women only?

Operators reserve certain seats and berths for women, and a berth beside one booked by a woman is often restricted to another woman. These are marked on the seat map before you choose, and the passenger details you enter must match.

What happens if the operator changes my boarding point?

We pass the change on as soon as the operator notifies it, by message and in your trip hub, with the new location and time. If the new point does not work for you, contact trip support and we will check what the operator’s policy allows, including cancellation.

How are bus ticket cancellations refunded?

Refunds follow the operator’s cancellation slabs, which depend on how many hours before departure you cancel. The amount you would get back is shown before you pay, and refunds go to the original payment method.

Is an m-ticket on my phone enough to board?

For most operators, yes: show the m-ticket or SMS with a valid photo ID. A few operators or routes still ask for a printout, and where that is the case it is stated on the ticket.

What is the difference between a sleeper, semi-sleeper and seater bus?

A sleeper coach has flat berths, usually in upper and lower rows. A semi-sleeper has seats that recline further than usual, with leg rests on some coaches. A seater has standard reclining seats, best for shorter journeys. Many coaches mix seats on the lower deck with berths above.
